Horse Carriage Ride

Today, carriage rides are mostly regarded as a tourist attraction. Going back in time, however, horse-drawn carriages were a widespread means of transport. If you love horses, you don't have to learn riding to be close to them. Take a discovery tour through historic city centers or a romantic trip into nature! Carriage rides are both incredibly diverse and a whole lot of fun!

Things to know about carriage rides

The Equipage: Types of carriages, harnesses and types of harnessing

Basically, all types of wagons are divided into single-axle wagons (two horses) and double-axle wagons (four horses), depending on the number of wagon wheels. The next distinction is then made according to the number of harnessed horses (single, double, quadruple, etc.). A classification according to the type of harness is also possible.

The horse harness consists – of different elements depending on the type of carriage and harness. For heavy carriages, a horse collar is usually used, a sturdy oval that is placed around the animal's neck and distributes the load evenly over the chest, shoulders and withers. In the past, pointed hummocks were used for working stalls.

The breastplate harness is suitable for light carts and smaller loads. It consists only of a wide leather piece that is stretched over the animal's chest. The light breastplate harness is popular in recreational sports today.

Vielen Dank 🤗🐴🐴
