Hungary

A country of more than 1000 years of statehood in Central Europe, nestled in the Carpathian Mountains. It is a reservoir for numerous watercourses that flow down from the mountains, and is home to many more thermal springs. Its mid-mountains, popular with tourists in their boots, are adorned with numerous karst and volcanic formations, the highest point being the Kékes peak in the 1014-metre-high Mátra Forest. It is home to Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe, and the westernmost member of the Eurasian steppe region, the Great Plain.

Plains

Two of the Carpathian alluvial basins are located in Hungary, known as the Great Plain and the Little Plain. The two are separated by the Transdanubian Central Mountains. Here we find the westernmost member of the Eurasian steppes, which, unlike their eastern counterparts, owe their formation to the action of rivers. The Danube and the Tisza are two of the most important rivers in these plains, alongside therivers and the Danube, with their many backwaters and alluvial cones. The landscape is dotted with protected Kunhalm, a species of fish, alongside wind bogs and various bogs. Here you will also find the Lake of Venice, Lake Tisza, Lake Hortobágy, Lake Fertő and the famous lakes of the Hortobágy and Fertő lakes.and the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage sites of Matyóföld and Mohács. The route of the Alföld Blue Trail passes through the Alföld.

Hills

In our country, it is found in the Transdanubian hills and the western Hungarian periphery in the south-western part of the country. It stretches from the dissected valleys of the Zala Hills through the loess of Somogyland to the Tolna-Baranya Hills. It has a dense network of rivers and lakes. Forests cover the landscape, and along the valleys many small villages hide in the silence of nature.Villages with rich local heritage are linked by a series of hiking trails through the hilly landscape. Here you will find the Koppányvölgy Nature Park, several wine regions besides Villány, and the Somogy coastal plain south of Lake Balaton. The Rockenbauer Pál South Transdanubian Blue Tour and the South Transdanubian Red Tour pass through our hills.
