Sharing routes and content

There are several ways to share both published and unpublished routes and other content with friends. You can share them via app or platform.

Share published routes and content

Once routes and other content are published, they are visible to all users across our platform. You can share published content with others both on the website and in the app.

On the website:

If you want to share a published route from the website, you'll find the "Share" button in green at the top right of the title. Clicking it will open a new window with all the sharing options. From here, you can copy the link to send directly to your friends.

Alternatively, you can email the route, or choose from options like "Facebook, "X", "Pinterest", "Threads", or "LinkedIn" to create a post on the respective social network. You also have the option to share the route via generated QR code, allowing your friends to access it directly from the screen.

On the app:

For every route and collection, you'll find the "Share" symbol in the top right corner. By clicking it, you can share the route or collection directly with your friends via Instagram, or by selecting "More," you can also share it via WhatsApp, Skype, email, or other installed apps.

The person receiving the link can view your unpublished route or collection but cannot save, edit, or interact with it in any other way.

Share unpublished routes and content

If you've created a route, plan, or point and want to send it unpublished to a friend, you can use the "Private Link" feature. This option is available on both the website and the app.

On the website:

Select your unpublished route, plan, or point from your profile. You'll find the "Private Link" feature in the top right corner of the title. Clicking the green "Private Link" button will open a new window. You'll see the following message:

"Sharing unpublished content: Upon sharing, everyone with the link will be able to access this content. This action cannot be undone. "

To share, you can copy the link and send it directly or use the "Email" option to open your email program and send the link.

The person receiving the link can view your unpublished route or collection but cannot save, edit, or interact with it in any other way. To share an unpublished collection, you can also use the "Private Link," which you'll find below the title in the collection.

On the app:

For every route and collection, you'll find the "Share" button in the top right corner. By clicking it, you can share the route or collection directly with your friends via Instagram, or by selecting "More," you can also share it via WhatsApp, Skype, email, or any other installed apps.

The person receiving the link can view your unpublished tour or collection, but cannot save, edit, or interact with it in any other way.

Good to know

  • When sharing an unpublished collection, only published items will be displayed. Any unpublished content within the collection will be hidden.
  • Images and videos must also be published in order to be displayed when sharing; otherwise, they won't appear.
  • By sharing the route via link, you can pass along the Outdooractive page, including the route description, photos, etc. When exporting the route as a GPX file, the route, including waypoints and exact coordinates, is shared. Using the GPX download allows for navigation, for example, on a Garmin watch.
