What is a '"Route"?

A "Route" is always based on a plan or a track. A plan (which comprises simply a title and track geometry) is the initial step in creating a route. A completed route will contain detailed descriptions and data as well as pictures and possibly videos.

How to create a route

If you want to create a route from an already created plan, open the plan and click on the green button „Create route“ in the upper right corner (website) or on „Create route“ in the lower center (in the app). If you want to create a route from a track, open the track in edit mode and then click on the gray button at the bottom to create a route.

You can then add more information such as directions, details, and pictures. Once your route is complete, you decide whether you want to publish it for all community members or save the route as "private".

In order to publish the route, you first have to change the status under "Publish" in the editing section. Clicking on the slider turns it blue and after saving, the route will then be visible to all community members.

See Your Routes Come to Life with the New Roadbook

The Roadbook of a route.

The Roadbook offers you inspiration and makes exploring and planning your routes even easier and more engaging. In the "Roadbook" tab on the route's detail page, you'll now find not only a description but also a visual depiction of each waypoint. With images and linked points of interest (POIs), you’ll gain a clearer sense of what lies ahead and discover key highlights along the route.

The Roadbook allows you to explore scenic spots, important waypoints, and useful details like current closures and tips, helping you prepare for your route. Whether you’re looking for inspiration or want a better overview of the route, the Roadbook provides all the information you need at a glance.

Give it a try and make the most of your next adventure!

What defines a route?

  • It comprises geometry as well as a title, description, detailed data, pictures, videos (if so chosen), etc.
  • It is based on a previous “Plan”
  • It can be published or remain private
  • It cannot go back to being a Plan

As soon as a plan has been converted into a route, it will be deleted. You can find out more about what a “plan” is here.

Please note: In order to plan or create a route, you must first be registered with us.
