Cross-border cycling route "Orchards" (PAMINA Area)

This Franco-German cycling route will delight you throughout the seasons. In spring, you will cross blossoming and fragrant orchard landscapes. Then in summer and autumn, when the trees bear fruit and the grape harvest begins, you can discover and enjoy the variety of local products.
The cross-border route passes through pretty wine-growing villages (Palatinate), vegetable and fruit farms and distilleries (Alsace), and many producers' shops (Baden).
The cycle routes along the Rhine and the Rhine plain have no major difficulty, while the sections in the Palatinate forest and the Kraichtal will delight the more athletic with greater elevation gain.
The many "Open Farm Days" offered in the area invite you to discover farm life and taste their products.
A selection of accommodation along the itinerary will allow you to ride the circuit in several stages. If time is short, several shorter variants are proposed (see author notes).

Please note that the route offers various types of roads: dedicated cycle paths, cycle lanes, agricultural tracks, lightly trafficked roads. The surface varies by section (mostly asphalt road, paved road, gravel passage, forest paths...).

Tips and suggestions
The PAMINA tourist association brings together around sixty members in Baden, Northern Alsace and Southern Palatinate. These include cities and municipal groups, tourist organizations, accommodation providers, and tourism service providers. The association promotes cooperation between tourism actors in the Franco-German PAMINA region. This cross-border cycling route was developed on their initiative. Public transport
The route can be started from several train stations and stops on the Palatinate, Baden or French side, such as Lauterbourg, Seltz, Wissembourg, Haguenau, Achern, Ettlingen, Landau, Annweiler am Trifels.Directions
Coming from Baden-Württemberg or Bavaria, it is preferable to take the A8 towards Karlsruhe or the A5 towards Achern.
Coming from the north, either from Baden via the A5 towards Karlsruhe and Achern, or from the Palatinate via the A65 towards Landau, or from France via the A4 and A340 towards Haguenau or Brumath, or via the A35 and D3 towards Wissembourg and Lauterbourg.

There are several parking options along the route, for example free parking behind the station in Kandel or in Wissembourg at the station or at the "Rue des Messageries" car park, about 50 meters away.Coordinates
