Le Circuit des Trois Cascades

Starting point: Church square, Brénod

Leave the village to the east by taking the alley that slips behind the church between the village houses that opens onto a small road to the right (south).

Pass in front of the washhouse, follow the road for about 200m and, at the bend, take the stoned path that starts as an extension of the road left.

Cross the Gorge bridge spanning the Albarine and about 50m before entering the fir forest, take a small path to the left that climbs through a hazel coppice and leads to the Sautoux waterfall.
Continue the path overlooking the waterfall and opening near the 17th-century stone bridge.

Do not cross the bridge and follow the path to the left that goes into the forest. The path climbs and becomes narrower until it becomes a steep trail.

Continue the path to the left following the marking. Take the staircase carved into the slope and reinforced with wooden logs.
Continue the path towards the summit of Areta from where you can enjoy a nice view of the Brénod plateau.

Then go to the orientation table by a path that winds between shrubs and thickets. Continue the path until the third Versoud waterfall.
Cross it using a small wooden bridge. Then descend towards the calvary. Leave the paved road and take the path that descends immediately behind the calvary and cuts the first two hairpin bends of the road.
Then rejoin the road towards the village, cross the pigsty bridge over the Albarine and reach the parking lot.
