    Along a short and easy route, the interpretation stations immerse you in the history of this unusual quarry. First exploited for its lithographic limestone, extracted to serve stone lithography printing throughout Europe. In the 20th century, a team of archaeologists revealed a quantity of fossils of all kinds (reptiles, fish, fauna, flora, giant turtles...) testifying to the very distant past of a tropical lagoon in this mountain area, now an integral part of the Bugey massif.

    The Cerin museum, opposite the start of the walk, welcomes visitors to discover the main geological principles and presents the results of the quarry's archaeological excavations.

    The Cerin quarry path is a sensitive natural area equipped with explanatory panels about the geology of the site and the quarry workers' trades. The Cerin paleoecological museum offers an exhibition of fossil specimens found during paleontological excavations and an educational film for children. In summer, the Cerin museum opens a pleasant small terrace to refresh yourself after the walk in the quarry!

    Bonjour Maryse, en effet le sentier de découverte est libre d'accès toute l'année. Nous vous conseillons d'éviter d'y aller après la pluie ou en période de canicule. Pensez à la visite du musée paléoécologique de Cerin ;)
