Der Stabenbergturm (auch Stabenbergwarte genannt) wurde am 26. September 1904 als erstes Bauwerk des zwei Jahre zuvor gegründeten Pfälzerwaldvereins eingeweiht. Zu früheren Zeiten trug der Turm einen hölzernen Pavillon-Aufbau; heutzutage „ziert” den Stabenbergturm leider nur noch ein Eisengeländer.

Das 1. Bauwerk des PWV - die 9 m hohe Stabenbergwarte bei Gimmeldingen wird eingeweiht.
Gründung weiterer 7 Ortsgruppen. Mitgliederstand zum Jahresende über 3.000 in 16 Ortsgruppen.
Die Ortsgruppen Ludwigshafen und Landau legen den ersten PWV-Wanderweg Trifels - Madenburg an.
