Long-distance hikes in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse

Pure Palatinate: Alternately, the 172 km long Palatinate Wine Trail leads on dreamy paths through varied forest passages and sun-drenched sections in the Palatinate sea of vines.

This exciting route takes us from Saarland through the Palatinate Forest, the Ried, and the Odenwald to the Main River. The individual stages can be quite hilly, which we should always keep well in mind when planning the respective daily distances.

We begin the 4th stage of the trail in the picturesque historical town centre of Deidesheim before hiking through vineyards, the Palatinate Forest and along idyllic streams up to the summit of the Weinbiet mountain. A descent with plenty of interesting views brings us down to Neustadt an der Weinstraße, one of the largest wine-producing communities in Germany.

It goes high up! On the fifth stage, you discover not only numerous interesting natural monuments but also climb the highest peak of the Palatinate Forest, the Kalmit.
