Hennesee

A large number of leisure options are available all round the Hennesee lake. Relax during a round boat trip with the MS Hennesee, enjoy sunbathing in the bathing bays or experience nature during a walk along the lakeside. Enjoy the silence of the morning with your fishing rod, or experience the refreshing wind on your skin while sailing. Visitors can experience all the undiscovered surprises hidden in the forest on the senses path on the Hennesee.

For anyone wanting more, there are the 333 steps of the Himmelstreppe (stairway to heaven) to be climbed. These take you up to the Hennedamm embankment, and back down again. Enjoy the wonderful views from the panorama balconies, or enjoy wandering along the HenneBoulevard. This will take you to the centre of Meschede, where you can stroll through the pedestrian zone.

The surrounding area close by also won't fail to impress with its top-class day trip destinations: Family fun is guaranteed at the Fort Fun adventure leisure park and in the Sauerland visitors’ mine in Ramsbeck, where mining history can be experienced at first hand with a tour on the pit railway.

Pay a visit to the brewery in Grevenstein and find out how the “fresh Veltins” beer is bottled. Or follow in the tracks of the past on a walk around the historic centre of Eversberg with the castle ruin. You can go “up high” on a hike to the Lörmecke tower, which is at the highest pint of the Arnsberger Wald forest and which gives you wonderful views out over the Sauerland region.
