One of Germany’s most varied and diverse rivers invites you with its bankside paths to discover an entire region. No other river in Germany combines culture and nature in such a close space. On the 230 kilometers from the source near Winterberg to the mouth into the Rhine at Duisburg, the Ruhr connects the original landscape of the Sauerland with the exciting and eventful Ruhr Metropolis.
