The 10 most beautiful gravel rides in Sauerland

Gravel Bike · Sauerland
To the Hasenstall Hut
Toprecommended route Difficulty moderate
49.1 km
4:10 h
953 m
947 m
The route goes through the two Freigrafschaft villages Düdinghausen and Oberschledorn towards Medebach. There was always a tug of war between Waldeck and Kurköln over the dominion. Near Medebach we then have a place to stop at the Hasenstall Hut on Bromberg. There is also a climbing park there. The way back goes through the Medebach Bay to Hildfeld to get over the mountain to Willingen

957 m
A gravel or e-bike route that gives us an impression of the Hochsauerland. With key points Küstelberg, Elkeringhausen, Ruhr source, Hillestausee, and over the Niedersfelder Hochheide back to Willingen. The route is designed without technical demands, so it can also be ridden by practiced narrow-tyre riders. Otherwise, I would prefer a somewhat coarser tread profile

Toprecommended route Difficulty difficult
65.8 km

This great route is based on the hiking trail "Uplandsteig." But don't worry, the difficult paths have been left out. This has not diminished the scenic variety. Another advantage of the route is that the 65 km can also be biked in 2 stages.         The route is not technically difficult but still includes some easy flowing trails. (natural paths) Therefore, tire choice should be knobby, but even the experienced rider with narrow tires can master this route.

Forest and panorama

To get to the mountains in the Sauerland, you don't necessarily have to be a great hiker. You can also enjoy the panoramas that open up on the mountain peaks on a gravel bike. Included is the popular Kahle Asten. From Bremberg you master the ascent right at the beginning of the tour. In the course of the loop, you ride through woods and over meadows, before the climb continues shortly after Liesen.

When it is warm in summer, graveling in the forest is particularly pleasant. The Stadtforst and Altenruuml;thener Wald provide pleasant shade. From the mountain paths you can enjoy wide views, not least because of the traces of the volcano Kyrill.

High up with the gravel bike

The Sauerland also offers a selection of tours for particularly sporty bikers that are sure to thrill you. Here you can rack up the altitude and really work up a sweat. Grab your gravel bike and go for a long ride through the Hochsauerland. The destination is the half-timbered village of Bruchhausen and the Bruchhauser Steine. Here you can take a break, put the bike on its side and enjoy the view. You should manage your fitness well on this route, because after just under 40km, the Hillekopf awaits you with a few metres of ascent and at the end you have to master a final climb.

The ultimate challenge awaits you on the Gravel Bike Tour from Winterberg via Westfeld-Girkhausen, Hunau and the Gro&szlig Bildchen. Over 70 kilometres and around 1,700 metres of altitude are covered on this tour. Highlights along the way are the Kahle Asten, the Hohe Knochen and the Sorpetal - with these beautiful places there is no lack of motivation on this tour.
