FFC cycling route No. 34: the Bonette via the Moutière
Passes closed in winter!
This version offers the special feature of discovering a unique climb of the Bonette, almost without cars and somewhat unknown to cyclists.
Heading towards Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, cyclists will climb the slope via the Moutière pass, with one of the most beautiful settings of the Métropole for those who love larch forests and the desert landscapes of high mountains. But note a gravel section allows joining the Bonette road! In perfect condition nonetheless.
Also be vigilant: The road services of the Métropole clear the Moutière pass road later than the Bonette road, so it is preferable to check before setting off. The return to Saint-Etienne is via the rapid descent of the pass by the road towards the hamlet of Bousieyas, located in the heart of the Mercantour National Park.
