Monthly Precipitation

Nobody wants it to rain on their parade, but having a map of average monthly precipitation to hand helps to avoid any disappointment on the day. The information is global and comes from the CHELSA project. The data is provided by ExoLabs.

Precipitation

As a Pro+ user, you will find 'Monthly Precipitation' as a 'Style' option for both the Outdooractive map and the OpenStreetMap as part of your "Weather & Climate" information, which is accessed by selecting the 'Maps and trails' button at the bottom right of the map panel. You can activate it in almost all map views and use the data when planning your routes and trips.

Simply click on the map to see the amount of precipitation in millimeters in that area for the selected month. The bar below allows you to view either the rolling monthly averages or the average for a specific month, which you can do simply by clicking on the bar.

Where the data comes from

The data we receive includes any precipitation that falls either as rain or snowfall. 'Monthly', i.e mm/month, is based on a 30-year time span from 1981 to 2010. The dataset includes global coverage at a spatial resolution of 1 km.

For more information on the Chelsea 2.1 dataset, please visit CHELSA-BIOCLIM+ (only available in English).

Current weather information

Current precipitation worldwide as well as a 3-day forecast can be found in the "Weather" layer for both the Outdooractive map and OpenStreetMap. Again, this forms part of your "Weather & Climate" information and can be accessed by selecting the 'Maps and trails' button at the bottom right of the map panel.

Current weather as well as a 10-day forecast are also available on the detail page of any route, destination, or region.
