Cycling in Landkreis Celle

By bike following in the footsteps of Jacob pilgrims and along old trade routes from Meckenheim to the Baltic Sea.

Along the Aller: Stage 8 leads over 45 kilometers from Schwarmstedt via Wietze and Winsen (Aller) to Celle.

Von der Aller an den Mittellandkanal. Die Etappe 9 führt Sie auf einer Länge von ca. 58 km von Celle durch eine offene ehemalige Moorlandschaft nach Hannover. Eine Route voller Seen und Vergnügen.   

Die Etappe 9a der Kulturroute führt Sie auf insgesamt 80 Kilometern Länge von der Residenzstadt Celle in die Klostergemeinde Wienhausen und weiter über Eicklingen, nach Peine.

Oschersleben – Eggenstedt – Ummendorf – Bad Helmstedt – Oebisfelde – Wolfsburg – Gifhorn – Müden (Aller) – Celle –Winsen (Aller) – Hodenhagen – Rethem (Aller) – Verden (Aller)

The route runs close to the Heidschnuckenweg, one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails in Germany, and partly directly along it.

Cretaceous and Middle Ages. Weser Renaissance to modern times. Experience historic towns, castles, churches, museums, surprises. 15 daily stages, 800 km. The cultural route is a long-distance cycling path of around 800 km that connects the cultural beacons in Hannover and the surrounding regions. In 15 daily stages, you can experience great cultural assets, vibrant towns and charming landscapes. The cultural route is mainly aimed at culture enthusiasts planning short bicycle vacations. A quality feature of the route is the accessibility of all start and end points by public transport. This makes the cultural route attractive not only for multi-day trips but also an optimal offer for day trippers. Overall it is designed as a circular route. Among the total of 26 beacons are of course well-known places such as the Celle Castle in the historic half-timbered city, the World Heritage Sites Cathedral and St. Michaelis in Hildesheim as well as the Pied Piper in Hameln, the Sprengel Museum of Modern Art or the world-famous Herrenhausen Gardens in Hannover. 

This bike route lets us explore the remarkable landscape of the South Heath Nature Park. On this charming ride, we can enjoy numerous small forests and wide heath areas that accompany us on the sections between the quaint villages.

The stage 9a of the cultural route leads you on a total length of 80 kilometers from the Residenzstadt Celle to the monastery community of Wienhausen and further via Eicklingen to Peine.

The alternative route 8a takes you from stage 8 near Hornbostel on a detour of about 29 km, which rejoins stage 8 again in Winsen.
