Ski Resort
The best regions
On the slopes all year round
Skiing and snowboarding can still be done all year round these days; you just have to know where to go.
Lifts in the northern hemisphere open – depending on region, altitude, weather and artificial snowmaking infrastructure – from October to April. Some glacier ski areas open their slopes as early as September or even all year round.
Popular ski resorts can be found in the Alps, the low mountain ranges, Scandinavia – but also in Canada, some states in the USA and in Japan.
In the southern hemisphere, the seasons are logically the other way round. From June to October, the most beautiful slopes are prepared in Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Argentina.

.Equipment for skiing and snowboarding
What is the right clothing depends on several factors such as season, weather and altitude. We can recommend the so-called "onion principle" in good conscience: if you wear several layers of functional clothing on top of each other, you can quickly adapt your outfit to the prevailing conditions. The outer layer (ski pants, jacket and gloves) should also be water-repellent.
A proper helmet is not yet compulsory in most ski resorts – for your own safety, however, we strongly advise you to wear one. In the event of a fall, a helmet can prevent serious injuries to the face and head. Ski goggles protect you from the sun's rays, which are intensified by the snow, and from snowflakes and wind.
For once, the most important thing comes at the end: Of course, you need skis, ski boots and poles, or a snowboard and suitable boots.

Skiing for beginners and families
Beginner skiers should choose a beginner-friendly ski area with flat and wide slopes for their first swings in the snow. Small, family-friendly ski areas are ideal for this purpose – also from a price point of view.
Children's lifts and magic carpets take beginners and young skiers effortlessly to the top. Ski schools with trained ski and snowboard instructors ensure progress and motivation on the slopes. Special separate beginner areas guarantee safety.
