Islay of Skye is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers. The Skye Trail is a 5-7 day, absolutely magnificent route through the Scottish Highlands. The route follows the Trotternish Ridge, past the Quiraing as well as the coastal cliffs on the Isle of Skye. A medium, beautiful, scenic and mostly foggy hike awaits you in Isle of Skye. I found the route magnificent. Chapeau!

Shielded by massive basalt cliffs, the offshore peninsula of Rubha Hunish appears unreachable for hikers. Fortunately, there is a passage in the rock wall that allows reaching this fantastic place on a narrow and steep path.

I did the tour in rather wet conditions. The way up was extremely muddy and at times very strenuous, and near the summit I lost the track several times on the slope. I recommend taking the path that is marked here as the return route for both the ascent and the descent. At the moment (end of September 2025), this route is in much better condition. Otherwise, a beautiful tour, and I had the summit completely to myself! Highly recommended!
