The Round Trip Planner
If you're using the Route Planner for the first time and are looking for the ease of not having to set waypoints then we've got you covered. We can help you plan and create an attractive circular route for the activity of your choice in just a few clicks. Simply set the desired starting point on the map, select the activity you want to do and your desired duration, and our routing engine will calculate suggestions for a fun circular trip.
Planning a round trip
Simply follow these steps and our routing engine will do the rest:
- Start by selecting your activity.
- Set your starting point on the map or use the input field to search for specific coordinates or a location.
- Adjust the duration or the starting point by moving the pin on the map to get a suitable circular route. New suggestions will be calculated after each change.
Selecting your route
We will generally suggest one or more suitable circular routes from your starting point. You will find these in the list view and on the map, which you can click directly on to make your selection.
Once you know which route you want to follow, you will be taken to the Route planner where the details will already be saved. You can then either save it as a plan or adjust the waypoints as required.
Good to know
Your safety is our top priority and you should never rely solely on an algorithm to plan a route for you. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you always review and familiarize yourself with the route before saving it. Please contact our support team in case of any misleading information that we can use your feedback to improve the feature further.
In addition to the activity, the map layer you use is also decisive when calculating the route. We recommend using the Outdooractive map, as the quality of the route networks is higher than in other layers and especially strong in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and parts of northern Italy. The function is available worldwide for the Open Street Map.
