On my last hiking tour, I took a closer look at the OUTDOOR KNEE SUPPORT knee support from Bauerfeind Sports for you and tested whether the new product delivers what it promises.

First impression & fit
The OUTDOOR KNEE SUPPORT comes in high-quality packaging. As soon as I took out the sports support, I was absolutely positively surprised by the pleasantly soft material.
Slipping it on immediately confirms the first impression: the support feels soft and comfortable on the skin and is robust at the same time. When I was measuring to order the right size, I was between two sizes, but decided on the larger version. This was absolutely the right choice. The support has a perfect fit, which can be adjusted using the individually adjustable strap. Off we go into the terrain.
Design
Currently the OUTDOOR KNEE SUPPORT is only available in the sandstone orange version. The different colors indicate the material mix and show the areas in which support or relief is provided. Although the bright orange is a nice eye-catcher, I would still prefer a slightly darker color combination, as I can imagine that the light-colored support looks dirty and worn out more quickly. But that's a matter of personal taste.

Practical test of the knee support
In beautiful weather and 28 degrees, I run a four-hour hike with a mix of easy and challenging sections. Compared to other supports I usually use, the support from Bauerfeind Sports is barely noticeable. I don't break a sweat under the breathable support despite the high temperatures, which is certainly due to the proportion of merino wool, which has a moisture and heat-regulating effect. I already benefit from the pleasant compression when running uphill and notice better muscle coordination, as the kneecap is well embedded and the knee joint remains stable even when taking big steps.
After taking a breather at the summit, I tighten the strap system to stabilize and relieve the front knee joint even better when hiking downhill. Even with the higher downhill load, I am positively surprised by the OUTDOOR KNEE SUPPORT. I have the feeling of being much more controlled and stable on the trail. The support gives me confidence and security and I can enjoy the descent much more. It also stays in place without putting any uncomfortable pressure on the kneecap or joint. Once I reach the valley, I can't detect any explicit knee pain or overloading.
Conclusion
The OUTDOOR KNEE SUPPORT exceeds my expectations across the board. Above all, the pleasant material with high wearing comfort and the innovative Downhill Relief System convinced me after the first use. The assessment regarding the color has been confirmed, the support is a little dirty after the tour, but this only gives a minimal deduction in the overall rating.
For me, the sports support is the ideal addition to my hiking equipment and will be my constant companion in the mountains from now on.
