The 10 most beautiful ski runs in the Lechtal Alps
Backcountry Skiing
· The Verwall Alps
Stuben - Star Wars
recommended route
Difficulty
moderate
3 km
0:30 h
12 m
702 m
Anyone who has done the run knows where the name comes from. A relatively easy variant that leads down northwest of the Knödelkopf, past the futuristic ventilation tunnel and further over lightly hilly terrain to Alpe Rauz.
Backcountry Skiing
· The Verwall Alps
Stuben - Gaisleger
recommended route
Difficulty
moderate
3.8 km
1:15 h
2 m
985 m
Wonderful variant in very spacious terrain, also suitable for weaker skiers. However, the steep, often heavily tracked descent towards Stuben is often unpleasant.
Backcountry Skiing
· The Verwall Alps
Rendl - Rear Rendl
recommended route
Difficulty
moderate
7.8 km
1:15 h
9 m
1,324 m
Classic descent from Riffel II through the rear Rendl back to the valley station of the Rendl lift. Heavily frequented, therefore relatively safe, and very scenic.
Backcountry Skiing
· Region St. Anton in Tirol
St. Anton - Waldschneise
recommended route
Difficulty
moderate
4.1 km
0:45 h
0 m
620 m
The Waldschneise is a very safe and easy alternative to the steeper runs Maienplatt and Maienwasen. The cornice at the start of the run can be somewhat tricky with a lot of snow, but it is very obvious and can be easily bypassed.
Backcountry Skiing
· Region St. Anton in Tirol
Rendl - Outer Rendlalpe
recommended route
Difficulty
moderate
9.2 km
2:00 h
6 m
1,384 m
A very impressive scenic variant descent, where you are almost always rewarded with a few untracked turns. The long traverse in the Hinterrendl and the inconvenient endpoint at MPREIS in St. Jakob make the route a bit more demanding.
Backcountry Skiing
· The Verwall Alps
Stuben - Knödelkopf to Alpe Rauz
recommended route
Difficulty
difficult
4.8 km
1:30 h
152 m
840 m
Great north-facing descent variant for which you have to invest 30 minutes of ascent.
Backcountry Skiing
· Lechquellen Mountains
Zürs - Gafri
recommended route
Difficulty
difficult
4 km
1:00 h
22 m
834 m
Spectacular run with partly very steep downhill sections.
Backcountry Skiing
· Lechtal Alps
St. Anton - Valluga West variant
recommended route
Difficulty
difficult
5.7 km
1:15 h
3 m
937 m
A rather rarely used variant of the Valluga with a challenging approach via the ridge. In return, you are rewarded with a uniform north-facing slope.
Backcountry Skiing
· Lechtal Alps
Zürs - Antenna
recommended route
Difficulty
difficult
4.9 km
1:15 h
161 m
717 m
The "Antenna," as the run is also called by locals, is a very good alternative when many standard routes are already tracked out and you don't mind a bit of hiking. This sporty variant should only be done if conditions allow, as the lower section is relatively steep terrain with unfavorable catchment areas.
Backcountry Skiing
· Lechquellen Mountains
Zürs - Wiesele Edge
recommended route
Difficulty
moderate
3.2 km
0:30 h
4 m
670 m
A relatively short but varied run in very safe terrain. Possible even in tense avalanche conditions and poor visibility.
