Cross-country ski trails in the Bavarian Forest

The cross-country ski trail is a combination of the Hirschenstein, Grandl-Ödwies, and Rauher-Kulm trails in the DSV nord.-akt. cross-country skiing center St. Englmar-Hirschenstein.

Easy spur trail from St. Englmar, district Predigtstuhl along the Predigtstuhl west slope heading south with a hairpin near Knogl.

The trail starts together with the Serpentine Trail at the so-called "Diensthütte" over Grandsberg (500 m after the Schwarzach-Grandsberg hiking parking lot) and leads around the Margaretenhänge and below the Rauher Kulm to Schuhfleck. It leads back to the starting point via the Grimmeisenweiher.

The Hirschenstein trail extends from St. Englmar to the Hirschenstein (1095 m). It runs along the eastern side of the ridge from Knogl to Ödwies in the middle section, circles the Hirschenstein summit, and returns along the ridge to St. Englmar. The trail can be reached via the Rauher-Kulm and Grandl-Ödwies trails from Kalteck and from Grandsberg over the Serpentine and Grandl-Ödwies trails as well.

The cross-country trail can be accessed from the Grandsberg trails starting at Schuhfleck and from St. Englmar starting at Ödwies. From Schuhfleck, it leads to Grandl, then continues to Ödwies, and from there back to Schuhfleck.

The Tannenbaum cross-country ski trail is located south of St. Englmar at the "Tannenbaum" sports center and runs mostly over meadows.
