The Hirschenstein trail extends from St. Englmar to the Hirschenstein (1095 m). It runs along the eastern side of the ridge from Knogl to Ödwies in the middle section, circles the Hirschenstein summit, and returns along the ridge to St. Englmar.
The trail can be reached via the Rauher-Kulm and Grandl-Ödwies trails from Kalteck and from Grandsberg over the Serpentine and Grandl-Ödwies trails as well.
