Ski touring area Chiemgau Alps - Climb the most famous peaks of the region

The ski tour „Geigelstein in Chiemgau“ leads up to the most famous mountain peak in Chiemgau. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding peaks of the Chiemgau and Berchtesgaden Alps and the Wilder Kaiser in Austria. At the beginning, the ascent is relatively flat, but you will cover most of the 1000 m in the second, steeper section. One of the most popular ski tours in Chiemgau: downhill fun from Hochfelln

For those who enjoy skiing on pistes, the ski tour to the Hochfelln from Kohlstadt is the perfect choice. You will often find almost piste-like conditions here and the route has a constant gradient of up to 30 degrees. At the summit you can stop at the Hochfellnhaus and enjoy the view of the lowlands on one side and the main Alpine ridge on the other. No wonder this tour is one of the most popular in the Chiemgau Alps. With a length of only 6.4 km, it is also doable for beginners. The tour has a duration of 4 hours.

Consciously on a ski tour

Before the start of every ski tour, there are a few things to consider that serve to protect you and nature. In order to enjoy the white slopes in the Chiemgau in the future, it is necessary that you adhere to the given rules.

  • Restricted areas: Heed warnings in dangerous terrain and nature reserves
  • .
  • Night Rest: It is extremely dangerous in the dark as the terrain is difficult to see. In addition, night rest serves to protect nature. Animals and plants find peace at night and can regenerate.
  • Avalanche situation: It is best to check the danger situation on site and not take any risks. Bring avalanche equipment with you and make sure that you can really use it in an emergency.
  • Assess your own abilities: Even on a ski tour, you need to know how to use your skis and be flexible enough to adapt to different terrain. The best way to return to the valley is to be able to perform the basics properly.

Ski resorts in the Chiemgau Alps and the surrounding area

In addition, there are of course numerous skiing areas in the Chiemgau region to discover on alpine skis. Winklmoosalm is the name of the skiing area near Reit im Winkl, for example, which is considered one of the most snow-sure skiing and winter sports regions in Germany. From Seegatterl you can also get to the Tyrolean Steinplatte, which offers a total of 44 kilometres of slopes. Smaller ski areas can be found in Bergen (Hochfelln) or on the Jenner in Berchtesgadener Land.

Sunny ski tour to Zwiesel (1782 m) and Zennokopf from Jochberg by David
January 05, 2025 · Community

Ski tour: Weitlahnerscharte in the Chiemgau Alps by Fettmull
March 03, 2022 · Community

simple ski tour hike to the Fellhorn (1,764 m) by Swen
February 02, 2022 · Community
Leichte Skitour.
