Der Südwest-Grat ist eine sehr schöne und ruhige Alternative zum Normalweg. Bei unserer Begehung war der Grat fast durchgehend schneefrei, weshalb wir das meiste ohne Steigeisen gehen konnten. Lediglich am kurzen Firnstück haben wir sie vorsichtshalber angezogen.
Die Kletterei ist sehr moderat und liegt meiner Meinung nach bei max. UIAA 2 oder leichter. Technisch ist die Tour also nicht besonders anspruchsvoll. Wir sind allerdings von der Capanna Gnifetti kommend in die Tour eingestiegen und haben daher den untersten Teil ausgelassen. Eventuell sind zu Beginn des Grates die Schwierigkeiten höher.
Zur Routenbeschreibung:
Ich kann die Aussage, man solle immer rechts vom Grat klettern, nicht bestätigen. Die beste Linie verläuft großteils direkt auf dem Grat, manchmal links und eher selten rechts davon. Bei wenig Schnee ist die Wegfindung sehr intuitiv: Einfach den deutlichen Kratzspuren der Steigeisen folgen.
Im obersten Teil, nach dem Firnfeld, ist der hier eingezeichnete Track etwas östlich (zu weit rechts) der leichtesten Route.
