Mallorca – biggest of all Baleares’ islands and always covered with green trees – is an ideal travel destination for mountain bikers. During spring numerous bikers find their way to the island to enjoy the comfortable climate and to bike downhill on fun trails in-between almond tree plantations, lemon trees as well as oil and lemon groves. Especially the north with the mountain ranges of Serra de Tramuntana on one side and the Llevante on the other, has caught the attention of mountain bikers from all over the world.

Each of the 4 destinations alone is actually worth taking a day for. Then you know all the highlights of the Cap des Pinar peninsula, which separates the bays of Alcudia and Port Pollenca. But it can also be done in one day!

An MTB route around the remotely conspicuous mountain Puig de s Alcadena next to Puig d Alaro with a visit to the Refugi Tossals Verds. Starting by bike from Alcudia via Inca, return via Campanet and the idyllic "Maffay Valley," quite a long route. In the MTB area, rather impressive landscape views, a typical route in the central Tramuntana.

A demanding MTB round route north of Arta. I have already presented several crossings of the Parc de Llevant nature park on gps-tour.info, here is a summary of the most beautiful paths, mostly on new trails. Almost everything is rideable, I avoided the worst pushing and carrying sections.

ATTENTION!!! This route is not suitable for hardtails - S2-S3 at the beginning of the trail from Capdepera VOR to Sa Font de sa Cala - longer push section at the start of this trail if your technique is not S3-capable!!! TIP!!! Those unfamiliar with the area can also join well-guided routes and rent top bikes at Roxybike/Camibike in Cala Millor!!! Route!!! Designed as a circular route from Canyamel. Of course, you can start at any point and can customize the route if longer cross rides are too boring for you. The forest trail section to Es Claper des Geants is fairly easy but nicely flowing to ride!!! Trail loop starting from Canyamel, Capdepera, or as a "feeder" from Cala Rajada/Son Moll, which includes a demanding single trail (starting S3, then S2) descending from Capdepera VOR (CDP) to Font de sa Cala. Along the Canyamel golf course on a flowing single trail in the forest. Short passage along the beach path in Canyamel and then for starters from Capdepera and Cala Rajada back again via Capdepera.

Action-packed trails in the island’s north

The Serra de Tramuntana stretches across the north-western part of the island. In the past, the tracks through the mountains were used by pilgrims. Today, the pilgrim paths have turned into mountain bike trails. However, if you decide to bike here you should be a confident mountain biker as the tracks are often blocked by boulders. Steep ascents lead through impassable terrain and require a good condition. If you want you can visit the Barranc de Biniaraix, which is considered to be one of the island’s most beautiful canyons.

In the east you can explore the hilly Serra de Llevant. One of the island’s most popular scenic roads runs in-between the jagged coast and the Serra. The hilly region and its bizarre rocks, barren hills and humid areas is ideal for adventurous mountain bike trips. Don’t forget your swimming equipment, because it is almost impossible to resist the beautiful sunny beaches.

  • Freeride at Coll des Juscons - Serra de na Burguesa
  • By bike from Pollença to Lluc
  • By bike from Esporles via Banyalbufar to Port des Canonge
  • By bike from Peguera via Calvià to Cap de Cala Figuera

A special characteristic of Mallorca’s trails is that some that a few of them ask for tolls as they lead through private terrain. If you don’t want to pay the toll or want to avoid biking through the maze of fences and barriers, you should take an experienced guide with you.

Circular route Cala Serena - s'Horta - Castell de Santueri - Finca Son Gall and back by Ulrich
