Pilgrim walks in Upper Austria

The stage runs northwards along the main route of the Benedikt Pilgrimage Path in Upper Austria and then turns in Thurnharting towards Traun onto the Pilgerrundweg Traunviertel.

Along the Klauser Lake, the route initially goes to St. Pankraz. From St. Pankraz, one follows the Steyr river upstream and passes the Stromboding Waterfall. Then it continues to Hinterstoder and then over gentle forest and meadow ridges to the picturesque Vorderstoder. Everywhere there are views of the magnificent mountains of the Totes Gebirge and the mountains of the Kalkalpen National Park.

In the morning we take time to explore the historic town of Steyr. In the afternoon we hike along the Steyr river via Christkindl to Sierning.

Impressive views: From the Vorderer Gosausee to the Gablonzer Hut, via the Bible Trail (Austriaweg) with magnificent mountain scenery to the Stuhlalm and the Hofpürgl Hut.

From the Hallstatt Salt Mountain via historic hiking trails and some managed alpine pastures to the lookout hill Löckenmoos, past the grinding stone quarries to the Evangelical Church Gosau.

From the unique Schlögener View we hike past the Zeller Monument and two historical castle ruins into the Eferding Basin and visit the gravesite of the peasant war leaders.

From Peuerbach Castle via the Astro Path and Feichtenberg through the Koaserin nature reserve to Heiligenberg, up to the Peace Pyramid and down to Schlögen (Danube).
