Pilgrim walks in the Pyrenees

The Via Tolosana is one of the four major French pilgrimage routes to Santiago and is considered the wildest and most adventurous of the four routes.

The Via Lemovicensis is one of the classic pilgrimage routes in France and runs as part of the "First Cultural Route of Europe" through central and southwest France.

The Via Podiensis, as one of the four historic pilgrimage routes in France, passes through the regions of Auvergne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées, and Aquitaine.

From Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the route crosses the Pyrenees and the French-Spanish border to the monastery of Roncesvalles. Numerous monuments along this route remind us of the famous knight Roland.

The Camino Francés begins in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port at the French foot of the Pyrenees and ends in Santiago de Compostela. It is the busiest section of all the Camino routes, as most pilgrims eventually come to Santiago along this axis.

The pilgrimage route follows the path that the later canonized Ignatius took in 1522 from his birthplace Loyola (Azpeitia) to Manresa.

From the Abbey of Roncesvalles we hike through mountain forests and small Basque mountain villages to Larrasoaña and discover the boulders "Pasos de Roldán" – Roland's steps.

The Via Lemovicensis, also called the "Voie de Vézelay" in France, is one of the main pilgrimage routes in France. It connects Vézelay in Burgundy, already an important pilgrimage gathering point in the Middle Ages, with Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port.

The Via Podiensis begins in Le Puy-En-Velay and leads us to St. Jean Pied de Port. It corresponds to the long-distance hiking trail 65 and is marked with the shell and red-white stripes.

We follow the course of the Río Arga downstream to the bullfighting city of Pamplona and can visit the numerous sights of the city there.
